Gilroy is the southernmost city in Santa Clara County. Nicknamed the "Garlic Capital of the World," Gilroy is home to the famous Gilroy Garlic Festival where the "Garlic Queen" is crowned every year. One of the largest food festivals in the country, it offers everything from garlic fries to garlic ice cream. It also hosts the "Garlic Cook Off," which attracts chefs from all over the country. This peaceful residential community is known also for its award-winning parks, outdoor recreation, and the Tree City USA awards, which it has won annually since 1979. Nestled between the Diablo and Santa Cruz mountain ranges, Gilroy's agricultural climate is a perfect, temperate balance, and its historic neighborhoods blend easily with newer homes. Mountains, wilderness, sun and sand are all within miles of Gilroy, making it a place anyone could call home.
