Located at the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay, Milpitas is an integral part of Silicon Valley. Often referred to as the "Crossroads of Silicon Valley" because of its easy freeway access to Oakland, San Francisco and Berkeley, it is home to Cisco Systems and Lifespan Inc., as well as many other high-tech companies. Lying at the foot of the Diablo Mountain Range, most homes in Milpitas were built post WWII, and include picturesque ranch-style homes, as well as newer multi-million dollar homes. The Great Mall of the Bay Area is located in Milpitas and is the largest enclosed mall in Northern California. Along with its other multiple shopping centers, Milpitas is known for its convenient one-stop shopping found almost anywhere in the city. It also maintains thirty-one community parks offering aquatics, tennis, hiking, biking, theatre and the arts. Along with its annual Backyard Boogie Concerts and the Great Race for Clean Air, Milpitas is an all round perfect place to call home.
